Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs by sliding a knife under the membrane and then using a paper towel to grip and pull it off.

In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to create a dry rub.

Rub the spice mixture all over the ribs, covering them completely.

Place the ribs in the slow cooker and pour the barbecue sauce over them, ensuring they are well coated.

Cover and cook on low for 4 hours until the meat is tender and easily pulls away from the bone.

Remove the ribs from the slow cooker and let them rest for 15 minutes before serving.
